			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<!-- Start Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><!-- End Shareaholic LikeButtonSetTop Automatic --><p><img alt="" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-383" height="150" src="http://empoweredrangers.com/files/2013/02/ID-10036037-150x150.jpg" width="150" />Do you notice this?  Many folks who want to lose weight would likely search for a magic program that will let them lose weight without changing how they eat or whether they exercise.  If they want to be financially capable, they would look for infomercials tout systems that allow them to become millionaires overnight without changing how they manage their financial affairs and patterns.   Isn&#8217;t it true that human beings by nature tend to crave magical solutions that are quick and easy and produce big results.</p>
<p>The reality is that I haven&#8217;t found any magic diet programs, and I never saw a get-rich-quick program that really worked.  Having said that, if you are some form of leaders in your family or your organisation, I can assure you that there is one &#8220;magic&#8221; thing you can do to improve your results immediately.  The good news is that it doesn&#8217;t require any special equipment.  You don&#8217;t have to take an expensive seminar to learn that.  It won&#8217;t even take you a long time to learn.  So, repeat after me &#8220;So, Jack what is it?&#8221;</p>
<h3>Thank you for the question.  The answer is    &#8230;.. (drumroll please) &#8230;&#8230;</h3>
<p><span id="more-386"></span></p>
<h3>&#8220;<strong>Show up a lot</strong>&#8220;.</h3>
<p>Well, are you surprised with that?  Indeed, it sounds simple to me too.  How could something so simple possibly produce an improvement in your leadership?</p>
<p>By showing up a lot, it means that your arrival is no longer an event.  If you only show up to deliver big news, I bet your followers who work for you will erect their defensive shields as soon as you appear on the horizon. These defensive shields make communication tough.  However, if you show up a lot, your appearance is just a normal part of how the world works.  Surprisingly, the shields should stay down and communication could happen.</p>
<p>You can also show up a lot to learn about your people.  Reports and statistics won&#8217;t get the job done. You need to see your people in action to understand them. By showing up a lot, you&#8217;ll learn all about what they do well and poorly.  In return, you will also allow other people to learn about you. The best way for them to do that is by seeing you in person.</p>
<p>&#8220;Be there&#8221; so that you can tell people what&#8217;s important. You should have crafted your one or two simple messages about the mission and your people&#8217;s part in achieving it. Show up a lot and you get more opportunities to share those messages.</p>
<p>Show up a lot so you can make small course corrections. Your life as a leader will be easier if you can make lots of small course corrections instead of a few big course corrections.</p>
<p>Remember, most effective supervision happens in the cracks in the system. Show up a lot and you&#8217;ve got lots of opportunities to make things right.</p>
<p>Show up a lot to learn about the real world. The real world doesn&#8217;t come to you in your office, neatly formatted into reports. If you want to get an unfiltered look at reality, get out of your office and around the people who work for you.</p>
<p>However, how much is &#8220;a lot?&#8221; The best answer to that question is: &#8220;More than you&#8217;re doing right now.&#8221;</p>
<p>Make it a priority to get out among the people who work for you. Don&#8217;t just swoop in then swoop out, either.</p>
<p>To get benefits from showing up you have to stay and watch and listen and communicate. You have to take every encounter with someone who works for you as an opportunity to communicate, coach, encourage, and correct.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t expect instant trust though. If you haven&#8217;t been showing up much, your people will probably not trust you when you suddenly start acting different. It will take time for your behavior to change their expectations. Hang in there. The benefits are worth it.</p>
<p>Showing up a lot is an easy concept to grasp, but you have to turn it into a habit. That takes time, a month at least, but probably more. And it takes effort and attention. In the beginning, you&#8217;ll probably need to schedule your &#8220;showing up&#8221; time.</p>
<p>Showing up a lot won&#8217;t help you lose weight or turn you into a millionaire overnight. But it just might be the one &#8220;magic&#8221; behavior that will make you a better leader.</p>

<p>In all corporate organisations, employees are often formed teams to carry out particular tasks, projects, or assignments.  Unfortunately, there is one thing that must happen &#8211; and like one of my ex-bosses said, <em><strong>&#8220;People Come, People Go because no one is indispensable!&#8221;  </strong></em> You may say that my ex-boss was cruel and mean.  I leave it to you to decide.  That said, the HR department is always curious as to why employees decide to leave the organisation.</p>
<p>Research shows that one reason why an employee leaves his work even if he is a high-pay employee is the &#8220;<strong>attitude of supervisors or managers</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p>Instead of motivating and leading the teams to accomplish the team&#8217;s goals, supervisors and managers might be too  busy enforcing their power over their followers. Instead of helping their teammates to grow and achieve the objectives, they are only bossing their subordinates around and are unwilling to share and pass their knowledge and skills to others.  How many of you know what I am talking about?  Thank you.  If you have supervisors and managers like this in your company or group, you will notice a high turnover of employees.  If not, those employees must have very high tolerance level, true or true?</p>
<p>Kings, princes and even sultans can be born rulers. However, <strong><em><span style="color: #0000ff">great leaders are developed and made</span></em>.</strong> Nobody has a birthright to become a good leader. You have to understand that rulers aren&#8217;t necessarily great leaders. In order to become a great leader, you need to be a follower first.</p>
<p>Here are my three reasons why a leader should be a follower first:</p>
<p><span id="more-382"></span></p>
<h2><strong>1. Better understanding of the plight of subordinates</strong></h2>
<p>A leader who came from the ranks usually knows and understands the plight of his or her underlings. You won&#8217;t only be able to empathise with your teammates, but you will also know the tricks under their sleeves.  You will know when to show compassion and when to be strict.  It is a known fact that employees or followers have tendencies to procrastinate, look for ways to make their jobs easier even if the quality isn&#8217;t good, and try to steal company resources, such as time and supplies. Thus, a leader who is familiar with the ins and outs of the company or group has a better advantage of taming his or her crew.</p>
<h2><strong>2. Leading by example</strong></h2>
<p>Many employees look up to supervisors and managers who know how to lead by example. If you want your subordinates to follow the rules of the organisation, you should be the first to follow such edicts or orders. For instance, bosses who are always tardy and absent can&#8217;t expect their subordinates to willingly arrive on time.  On the other hand, if bosses go to work early, employees will have no reason to arrive late regularly.</p>
<h2><strong>3. Getting respect and awe</strong></h2>
<p>Many people believe that respect is earned.  Thus, if you are a leader of a company, employees won&#8217;t necessarily respect you if you don&#8217;t give them any reason to do so. In order to gain respect, you need to be a humble leader. You need to accept your mistakes and graciously hear other people&#8217;s suggestions.</p>
<p>Now that we understand my submission (and I hope you do), it is time to ask this question &#8211; &#8220;<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">where can I learn the leadership skill?</span></strong>&#8221;  Thank you for the question.  From my experience, you should first understand your type personality &#8211; which can be assessed using popular personality profiling tool such as Enneagram, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® or Extended DISC®.</p>
<p>The second step should be for you to know the type personality of your teammates and perhaps the team type personality.  This will help the team know the strength and areas of growth, enhance team work and improve team communication.  Are you excited?<br />

<p>How many of you are in sales right now?  And how many of you want to be in sales?  How many of you want to sell efficiently and effectively so that you are able to satisfy your customers for recurring sales and referrals?</p>
<p>You have come to the right place.  <strong> Even though you are not in sales right now, please allow me to share with you that you have been in sales since your birthday.  You are just not aware of it.  </strong>I will devote another article to deal with this issue.  Meanwhile, let&#8217;s come back to this topic!</p>
<p><img alt="" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-381" height="150" src="http://empoweredrangers.com/files/2013/02/220px-Toshiba_Remote_Control_CT-9863-150x150.jpg" width="150" /></p>
<p>Do you agree that selling a product is all about being in <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">control of the selling process from the beginning</span></strong>?  Recall the last time you bought an expensive product from a vendor.  Why did you buy the product notwithstanding that it was expensive?  This is because from the moment you first interacted with the vendor,  he was in total control.</p>
<p><span id="more-380"></span></p>
<p>Literally, he told you what to do and think and you might not have even noticed it, true or true?</p>
<p>So, here is the question for you if you are in sales?   Do you want to have the control of the situation from beginning to end?  You&#8217;d better say &#8220;yes&#8221; lest it could be difficult for you to close any deal.  It is imperative that your control is established in the beginning of your sales pitch. If the customer isn’t listening to your pitch, then you are wasting your time.  How many of you can relate to this?</p>
<p>Many salespeople may not be aware of this &#8211; Never ever allow your customers (prospects or suspects of existing clients) to do other activities during your pitch. Make sure and keep them locked in throughout your pitch.  If you speak to world-class salespeople, they will tell you the same.</p>
<p>What if you are in a customer’s home?  You have to make sure that you get the customer involved in your pitch. If it is getting the customer to your product or asking him questions to keep his attention, it is important to not lose his interest. A good salesperson is like a magician. If you are putting on a good pitch, people will be focused on you through your whole sales pitch without distraction.  Are you excited because you are now getting this?  Good job!</p>
<p>Unfortunately, there will always be uncontrollable factors such as unexpected house guests or unforeseen phone calls. The best thing for a salesperson to do in such  situations is to wait politely for them to finish before continuing your pitch. If possible, get the house guest involved in your sales pitch as well. This may help you avoid third party objection. <strong>The key to keeping control is keeping the customer involved.</strong> If the customer becomes bored, you will lose control fast.</p>
<p>Do whatever it takes to avoid repeating yourself too.  Being redundant is a quick way to lose a customer’s interest. Keep them on the edge of their seat with new information throughout your pitch.</p>
<p>People generally like hearing stories. Even back when we were little and wanted our parents to read us a bedtime story. If your story relates to the person in some form. it will keep them interested. As long as you have their interest, you have &#8220;control&#8221; and you need to maintain control, true or true?</p>

<p>Did you recall last time when you made a business decision, how did you feel?  Did you allow any emotion to get in the way of your sound business decisions?</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-378" height="150" src="http://empoweredrangers.com/files/2013/02/ID-100118152-150x150.jpg" width="150" /></p>
<p>I know some people, whether men or women, simply let their emotions get in the way of sound business judgment.  Isn&#8217;t it true that in business, it is absolutely necessary to be analytical and logical?  Isn&#8217;t it true that each decision should boil down to one question:</p>
<h3><strong>“Will this be good or bad for my business?”</strong></h3>
<p><span id="more-377"></span></p>
<p>Have you ever been expected to make an expensive purchase for your business, and did you go through with it even though it was too costly, for fear of “not being liked?”</p>
<p>Handle business swiftly and politely with a smile to avoid confrontations.  Thereafter, following the tips below may offer some help to you:</p>
<p>1.   Acknowledge the request and within the framework of the conversation, explain why you cannot meet the request.</p>
<p>For example, one of my friends had an exciting opportunity to combine forces with a local TV news program. Their research was impeccable indicating a very high number of anticipated hits on their websites and calls to be received if my friends were to sign up for the program. After the presentation, and request for $50,000, my friend agreed it was of great value. He then said, “If your statistics are true, I would need to build up my infrastructure which will take longer than your short timeframe allowed for commitment.”</p>
<p>My friend actually agreed with their statements and used their own words to show the flaw in their reasoning for a quick decision. This method enabled my friend to excuse himself from the project and eliminated hard feelings.  In other words, this technique is commonly known as &#8220;<strong>Agree to Disagree.</strong>&#8221;</p>
<p>2.     You cannot afford to purchase from everyone. You must learn to remove the emotional side of business and set realistic expectations of others.  Too often a person will get upset if an acquaintance does not purchase; will not trade links on websites; and will not offer referrals.  The feeling is like I owed it to them.</p>
<p>You may wish to consider taking the “I” and “You” out of the equation and, instead, think in terms of the bottom line for your business.</p>
<p>3.   Relationship selling is based on a win-win strategy. Each business owner must understand the needs and challenges of the other.  When someone tells you ‘No’ at any point in a conversation, the very best thing to do is to stop and ask, “Why?” Getting angry, walking away and stopping all communication is not the least bit helpful. If you take the time to ask “Why?” and get a history of experiences, there will be three positive outcomes from the question:</p>
<p>First, if an error was made, you will know what that error was and will not repeat it elsewhere.</p>
<p>Second, you will become adept at always understanding two viewpoints (yours and your prospect’s) which will work in your favor from that point forward.</p>
<p>The third scenario, and best of all, is by questioning you may easily find a solution that will satisfy both of you.</p>
<p>Once you know who your best prospects are, stay with that market and you will be far happier as more business comes your way. We’ve all heard, “It’s not personal, it’s just business” and now we must heed that expression.</p>
<p>Ask yourself, am I making reasonable requests of others and am I making the best decisions for my business?</p>
<p>Strive to build a sound business environment. Your centre of influence will grow And Your Business Will Prosper.</p>

<p>As a trainer, one of my key performance indicators (&#8220;<strong>KPI</strong>&#8220;) is to receive good rating from my participants after each training session.   This will allow me to be in a better position to enrol them for further education if this is my own training.  If I am running a training session on behalf of a particular organisation, this will ensure that the organisation will come back to me for more training assignments.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft" height="120" src="http://empoweredrangers.com/files/2012/08/Podium1-150x150.jpg" width="120" />Many aspiring trainers tend to ask this question &#8211; when they see experienced trainers, sometimes it seems they could easily cast a spell on their participants.  If you have attended some training sessions conducted by great trainers, including one of my mentors, Alex Mandossian, you should know what that spell feels like.</p>
<p>One of the first evidences that such trainers were going to keep their participants in the palm of their hands is that you almost instinctively liked them.  And this interesting thing about that &#8220;spell&#8221; is that once you genuinely like a particular trainer, you naturally are open to his presentation, you listen more attentively and you are more open to suggestion if he  is driving to a point.  How many of you know what I am talking about?  How do they cast the spell?<br />

As you prepare to begin doing some public training, its natural that you want to know how to make that spell work for you.  We all have a natural feeling of insecurity or inferiority, don&#8217;t we?  We are concerned that the participants might not like us and/or our training session could go badly.   So you wonder if that trainer just naturally more likeable than you or if he uses some public speaking magic to make the audience like him.</p>
<p>In my opinion, the answer is twofold.</p>
<p>1.   First, the answer is &#8220;No&#8221;.  That trainer is not more likeable than you. That is just your fear of insecurity, that is talking to you and you need to tell &#8220;it&#8221; to take a hike because it is not going to do you a bit of good becoming a better trainer.</p>
<p>2.  Second, the answer is &#8220;Yes&#8221;.  There is something that trainer knows to make his participants like him but no, it isn&#8217;t magic at all.  Really?  Of course.  It is something anyone who stands in front of a crowd can use and it will work every time.</p>
<p>The secret really isn&#8217;t very complicated at all.  You just have to learn to like your participants. That may seem simple but buried in that idea is a powerful principle of psychology. When you step in front of a crowd and you have trained yourself to like them, it comes out in every aspect of your posture and the way you behave. You will smile more, make eye contact and actually find yourself wanting to interact with them during the course of your presentation.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be concerned too much if your speech or presentation is not interactive in a dialog. If you have spoken to a small group before, you know that there is a lot of interaction going on even during a one way speech. That trainer who charmed you that day with that &#8220;magic&#8221; knows that interaction went on all the time. As you speak, you get feedback in the form of body language and facial expressions that allow you to know how you are doing. And by starting out with a fundamental warmth and affectionate relationship with an audience, that feedback is warm and affectionate as well and that only makes the presentation more of a success.</p>
<p>The trick to learning to like your participants lies in looking for good reasons to like them. I use the word &#8220;trick&#8221; for a good reason.&#8217; Any reason to like them will do. You don&#8217;t have to like every individual in the group. You might like what they are wearing or the faces of individuals in the group. You might like certain ones you know or a few you met and found a chemistry with early on. You can even like a crowd just because you find a few in that group attractive. By focusing on the ones you like, your warmth toward them will spread to the rest of the group as you speak. Before long you will have that crowd in the palm of your hand and using that magic spell to make your training a success. Then you will remember this little &#8220;trick&#8221;. And you will use it often for public speaking success every time.</p>

<p>If you have been trained by Blair Singer in his <a href="http://www.millionairemindworld.com/courses/ttt/" target="_blank">Train the Trainer Certification Programme</a>,  (&#8220;<strong>TTT</strong>&#8220;)  you would know that we don&#8217;t like PowerPoint unless it falls with certain exceptions.  We are &#8220;<strong><em>Flip Charts</em></strong>&#8221; persons!</p>
<p><img class="alignleft  wp-image-257" height="120" src="http://empoweredrangers.com/files/2012/08/Podium1-150x150.jpg" width="120" />Imagine you walk to the training room and you don&#8217;t see any flip charts around.  Imagine the event organiser asks you to prepare PowerPoint slides (as they haven&#8217;t been to TTT before).  What will you do?  Do you still insist on the event organiser providing you with flip charts?</p>
<p>I did a training in a small room when the event organiser only provided me with laptop for PowerPoint slides presentation and no flip charts were available.  Here is my solution  to this problem.  Check out the following video as I am going to share with you how I overcome the problem of no flip charts but only Powerpoint in the training room.  Have fun!<br />
